Born in the Netherlands, Bernard has been driven from an early age by a desire to create objects that are as beautiful as they are functional. His journey into interior design has taken him from his studies at a Dutch University of Technology (Twente) to participation in international art exhibitions, and later to a master’s degree at London’s Royal College of Art.

This artistic background continues to shape his sensitivity to colour, composition, and the careful curation of decorative objects.

He is also instrumental in the development of bespoke furniture pieces that sit naturally within Ter Hoeven Design projects, whether the sculptural Trellis Chair or the ingenious dining table concealed within the TV wall of a Battersea living room.

With a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, materials, and technical solutions, Bernard works closely with construction teams to ensure that each design is realised with precision and care.
